You could say that ophthalmology runs in the Kirk family!

For more than 50 years, Kirk Eye Center has provided quality eye care to the greater Chicago area.  Dr. Harold Kirk was the founder of the practice, which began in Oak Park before moving to its current location in River Forest.

In 1986, his sons, Doctors Scott and Kent Kirk, became the second generation of Kirk ophthalmologists when they joined their father in the opening of Kirk Eye Center’s River Forest location. In addition to a larger clinic, they built their free-standing ambulatory surgical center (ASC), one of the first licensed in the State of Illinois.

In 2012, Scott’s son, Dr. Tyler Kirk, joined the practice following the completion of his residency training in ophthalmology at the University of Mississippi in Jackson. With his special interests in glaucoma and cataract surgery, Dr. Tyler Kirk brings an enthusiasm for treating advanced glaucoma and anterior segment pathology to Kirk Eye Center. He is proud to carry on the family tradition begun by his grandfather, Dr. Harold Kirk.

While he doesn’t have the “Kirk” last name, Dr. Dean Bauer is still a member of the Kirk Eye Center family! For more than 20 years, Dr. Bauer has helped our patients with their contact lens fittings and worked closely pre and post operatively with refractive patients.
